Sonic Boom Six

From Manchester's dynamic musical landscape comes the most compelling sound-clash to rise from the underground for years. Few bands can so smoothly mix dancefloor-savvy elements of reggae, jungle and ska with the rigorous commentary of hip-hop whilst retaining enough grit and aggression to be an active fixture of the UK's punk scene.

Sonic Boom Six are propelled by the melodious rapping of Laila K, who is one of the most incendiary vocalists to ever bounce around a moshpit of mohawks. SB6 create a sound as authentic as it is unique.

Sonic Boom Six first appeared on the Manchester punk scene in April 2002. Their self-titled demo, recorded with Jerry Melchers, was self-released in October 2002. In September 2003, they released 'The Turbo EP', their first release for Moon Ska Europe. This was produced by Ace (of Skunk Anansie) and Christophe. After a series of good reviews, Sonic Boom Six were invited to perform a session on BBC Radio One's The Lock Up.

After further touring, the band re-united with Ace and Christophe to record their second EP, 'Sounds to Consume', which was released in August 2004. Following 2 years of continuous touring, their debut full-length album, 'The Ruff Guide to Genre-Terrorism', was released on 10 July 2006 on Deck Cheese Records, and in August 2006 the band played the Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Following more high-profile festival appearances and tours with bands including Reel Big Fish and Less Than Jake, November 2007 saw the release of the band's second full-length CD, 'Arcade Perfect'.
